I often paint my children and their friends. I strive to discover their unique spirit and express it on canvas. To document more than just a fleeting moment in time, but the essence of their youth. A painting can do that like nothing else.

For me, painting is a study of the soul. A study on multiple levels. Light, heat, sound and colour... all senses captured to create an emotional connection. To inspire personal reflection, perhaps stir a lost or forgotten feeling. For me, the definition of art is the communication of emotion that leads to personal reflection. 

Can you hear the surf, feel the breeze and recall a time? That's what my art is designed to capture. That's why I paint... In a world that seems always about tomorrow, to remember to rejoice in today and yesterday.

The Process ...
My process for creating a portrait is unique. It starts with simple conversation. What are you looking for and expecting? What is it that inspires you about your subject? What are the subjects particular interests and qualities?

Working from the material collected or provided, I will produce  a preliminary digital rough, for your consideration. Following your approval of the preliminary rough, I'll  proceed to the final painting.  Painting size and proportion are based on your preferences.
