Instruction For the past 40 years, Mark has shared his techniques in demonstrations, workshops and classes throughout Western Canada and overseas. Mark has also been on staff as a painting instructor at Vancouver Community College, the Vancouver School Board, and the Burnaby School Board. Beginning in 1986, Mark, his father Harry and sister Caren have hosted painting tours in Europe, Asia and North America. Their very different styles, subjects and approaches have provided a rich experience for their students and a unique aesthetic texture for their fellow travellers. Mentoring Mark is currently holding an ongoing mentoring program through the Mastrius group, based in Calgary Alberta. Through live on-live meetings, Mark is mentoring numerous emerging artists around the globe. Memberships
Fundraising and Philanthropy Canadian National Institute for the Blind ... Mark and his family have donated their art to the CNIB on a regular basis over many years. In 2022 he was selected as Honorary Chairman for the "Eye Appeal" event, donating his artwork and recruiting artists for fundraising auction donations and participating in promotional activities and publications to promote the event. Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island (formerly the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children and Families) ... In conjunction with his "At Play" solo show at the Avenue Gallery in Victoria BC, Mark organized the production of limited edition cards and prints of a custom painting celebrating the work of the Queen Alexandria Foundation. All profits from the sale of reproductions and the original artwork were donated to support QA programs. The Help Fill a Dream Foundation ... In conjunction with his "Elements of Nature" solo show at the Avenue Gallery in Victoria BC, Mark organized the production and sale of limited edition cards and prints of his artwork. All profits from the sale of reproductions were donated to support the help Fill a Dream Foundation. Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS) Mark and his late father Harry have been long time supporters of the SALTS organization, organizing fundraising art shows and donating their artwork to help support their work. SALTS is a non profit Christian organization that provides sail and life lessons for 1700 young people each year on it's tall ships and provides a valued to maritime heritage on Canada's west coast. Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Victoria Mark has donated his artwork in support of Big Brothers, Big Sisters programs. Mark's wife Lisa was a mentor for several girls over the years and continues on an informal basis to this day. The Kidney Foundation of Canada ... Mark has donated his artwork in support of the Kidney Foundation programs over the years. The Ghadban Family Support Group ... Mark has donated his artwork to fundraise for the sponsoring the Ghadban family, a refugee family escaping war torn Syria. |
