On the drive from Port Alberni to the west coast of Vancouver Island, you must scale Sutton Pass. The climb is quite steep and in the winter time, snow can make it very tough. On the other side the highway follows the very picturesque Kennedy River, that flows through the rocks and down the mountain to Kennedy Lake. In the height of summer, it’s little more than a stream. This is a favorite stop of ours and prime, pet tad-pole hunting territory.   Mark Heine
