On a recent trip to the west coast of the island, we stopped at a popular river viewpoint. Interesting rock formations, normally submerged under roaring flumes of water, are now visible in the dry heat of summer. My youngest daughter, Sarah, almost 11, and I find a small pool full of tadpoles. Sarah can’t resist the urge to catch one to share with Charlotte, who waits in the van. Using a discarded coffee cup, I demonstrate my method of capture, perfected through hours of bullhead fishing in tide pools, as a child. Over the next week we all thrilled to “Gumph” sprouting legs and arms. Here, upon his passing, he is ‘buried at sea’ in our local stream. Ashes to ashes...   Mark Heine
